NWCA works with Alaska communities to enhance 2007 visitor season for residents

Member lines of the North West & Canada Cruise Association are committed to making the every cruise season just as enjoyable for Alaska residents as it is for visitors.

That's why the NWCCA member lines participate in Juneau's Tourism Best Management Practices (TBMP). The TBMP provides a list of guidelines to minimize the impact of tourism on Alaska's communities, while maximizing the Alaskan experience for cruise visitors.

More than 60 local tour operators, including the cruise lines, follow the guidelines each year.

"We value our relationship with Alaska and we make it a priority to be a good neighbor in the communities where we operate," said John Hansen, NWCCA president. "The TBMP is just another way to help us ensure we are working with Alaskans to be a welcome part of their community."

The TBMP program is in its ninth year. Participation is voluntary.
